The Hanky Code has long served as a culturally significant "flagging" identification system in gay leather subcultures.  The use of hankies has historically helped gay men identify each other in general society, but the system is in fact far deeper and more complex than that.

The hanky system incorporates the use of colours (what type of fetishes a person might be into) and positioning (what role a person might want to play).  A hanky worn on the left side generally signifies that the person is a "Top", and is interested in a topping/giving/active role.  A hanky worn on the right side of the body generally indicates that a person is a "Bottom", and is interested in a bottoming/receiving/passive type role.  A hanky worn around the neck signifies the person is "Versatile" and may wish to play as a top or a bottom depending on their dynamic with a play partner, or their mood on any given day.

The most popular globally recognised colours in the hanky code system are red (fisting), yellow (piss) and black (S&M).  Other widely used colours include hunter green (Daddy), Grey (bondage), Charcoal (latex), Olive (military), Navy (fucking), Brown (scat) and Orange ("anything goes" or "not interested in anything" depending on the side of the body it is worn - but more commonly "anything goes").

Flag your fetish with pride.  Our selection of 100% Cotton Paisley Hankys are available in various popular flagging colours.
